The Queen of The Quick Fix

Hello my loves!

Lately time has been sneaking away from me.  I blink my eyes and three hours has passed.  Or I'll think it's still May... you know... TIME IS FLYING.  This is making me more and more aware of how intentional I need to be with my time.  When I am strategic about what's going to happen in my day, or what needs to get accomplished, I feel less stressed and I'm way more efficient.  This is also true in my daily routine.  So frequently I've been caught....

...running out of the house 20 minutes late.

...sleep has officially become more important than showering.

...made impromptu plans and I KNOW I didn’t leave enough time to get ready.

No matter what the reason, we have ALL had those moments where we had to get ready quickly.  I’m not gonna lie.  I’m kind of the queen of this.  In fact, I’m pretty sure I’m gonna start calling myself “The Queen of The Quick Fix”.

I used to NEVER feel like I gave myself enough time to get ready.  Always scrambling and making other things a priority.  Now that I’m preggo, chasing a toddler and running said business, I reaaaaally have to carve the time out.  I fully embrace the fact that sleep is more important to me than having hours to get ready because, well ...I’m just not a morning person.  If I could get ready at midnight that would actually be way more productive for me.  That being said, I am a firm believer that when you take a little extra time to get ready and plan ahead, things run way more smoothly and you leave the house way more confident.

Extra time isn't always available to get ready. Having a few extra tricks up your sleeve is a total game changer. Tweet it!

So, what are my tricks? Here are my life savers right now:

  1. Dry Shampoo - Guys.  Dry Shampoo is a freakin miracle worker.  If your hair needs some volume or really should be washed but you just ain’t got the time for that, throw some dry shampoo on that bad boy and thank me later.  I have talked about this on Instagram AND in the private FB group on multiple occasions because I am just THAT into it.  The amount of people I’ve turned onto this dry shampoo is really a crime.  Someone should be getting paid for this…

  2. Maxi Dress or Romper - Here’s the deal.  Anything that is a one stop shop that you don’t have to coordinate or “create” an outfit will help you here.

  3. Gold Accessories - You have also heard me talk about gold accessories before, but that is because they literally take SO much of the guessing game out of accessorizing.  Since this is a spot where a lot of people get tripped up, this is a common go-to for most of my clients.  It also makes you feel like you got mad accessory skills.  Layer on the gold my friend.  Layer on the gold.

  4. Cream Eyeshadow Sticks -  I am SURE that any makeup artist that reads this might cringe when I talk about smudging eyeshadow with my finger and then walking out the door, but these eyeshadow sticks were a complete game changer for me.  A little dab will do ya, throw on some eyeliner and mascara and call it done-so.

  5. Hats - Yep.  I’m going there.  If I don’t have time to do my hair, or feel like my outfit needs a little something something, I LOVE a good hat.

I’m a big fan of these short cuts and would love to know your go-to game changer when it comes to getting ready in a pinch?  The more the merrier!  Comment below and share!  Also if this resonates with you, and you are always feeling stuck, share that with me as well.  I’d love to help you feel like you have a few more tricks up your sleeve!

Cheers to those little things that make our day just thaaaat much easier!

xoxo,
Melanie

Dry shampoo doesn't work for curly hair. My trick is to wet my head quickly with a couple bursts from the shower (don't drench your head, just dampen it) , apply gel and scrunch. My go to gel is Climate Control Heat and Humidity Gel from Ouidad, which is currently available at Ulta or Quidads' online store.

Hi Michele! Those are great products. Everyone's hair is different and therefore it can take some time to find what works for you! Glad you have found a gel you love! I have curly hair and I LOVE dry shampoo! Totally depends on your hair and the look you are trying to achieve. =)
